Every note here starts as a question that needed an answer before something could be bought, installed, or committed to — and ends as a matrix, a recommendation, and the reasoning that connects them.

The format is deliberate. A comparison that lists features tells you what the options are; a comparison that ranks them against stated requirements, in priority order, tells you what to do. These aim at the second, so each one opens with its answer — the recommendations, in a short table — and then shows its working: the requirements before a single candidate is weighed, the matrix, and the reasoning behind a recommendation it is willing to be wrong about in public.
